Surely in vain I cleansed my heart, and I will wash my hands in cleanness.
What the Almighty that we shall serve him? and what shall we be profited if we shall supplicate to him?
For he said, It will not profit a man in delighting himself with God.
For thou wilt say, What shall it profit to thee? what shall I profit from my sin?
If my saying, I will forget my complaint, I will let go my face, and I will be cheerful:
Shall I do evil, wherefore this shall I labor in vain?
Then thou wilt immerse me in the ditch, and my garments abhorred me.
The blameless one of hands and the clean of heart; who lifted not up his soul to vanity, and swore not for deceit
I will wash my hands in cleanness, and I will surround thine altar, O Jehovah:
Create for me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit in my midst,
Ye said, Vanity to serve God: and what profit that we watched his watches, and that we went mourning from the face of Jehovah of armies?
Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse the hands, ye sinful; and purify the hearts, ye double souled.
