On hearing this, Jesus said to them, "Those who are strong have no need of a doctor, but those who are ill: I have not come to call just men but sinners."

For the Son of man has come to seek and save the lost."

Besides, if you had known what this meant, I care for mercy not for sacrifice, you would not have condemned men who are not guilty.

Jesus answered, "Is it not written in your Law, 'I said, you are gods'?

He replied, "Have you never read that He who created them male and female from the beginning

Have you not read in the Law that the priests in the temple are not guilty when they desecrate the sabbath?

He said to him, "What is written in the law? What do you read there?"

Also, to love him with the whole heart, with the whole understanding, and with the whole strength, and to love one's neighbour as oneself — that is far more than all holocausts and sacrifices."

Jesus replied to them, "Healthy people have no need of a doctor, but those who are ill:
