How dare you say to your brother, 'Brother, let me take out the splinter that is in your eye,' and you never notice the plank in your own eye? You hypocrite! take the plank out of your own eye first, and then you will see properly to take out the splinter in your brother's eye.

The Lord replied to him, "You hypocrites, does not each of you untether his ox or ass from the stall on the sabbath and lead it away to drink?

So he said to them, "No doubt you will repeat to me this proverb, 'Doctor, cure yourself!' 'Do here in your own country all we have heard you did in Capharnahum.'"

But Jesus detected their malice. He said, "Why do you tempt me, you hypocrites?

You hypocrites, you know how to decipher the look of earth and sky; how is it you cannot decipher the meaning of this era?

But the evil spirit retorted, "Jesus I know and Paul I know, but you — who are you?"

Why do you note the splinter in your brother's eye and fail to see the plank in your own eye?

How can you say to your brother, 'Let me take out the splinter from your eye,' when there lies the plank in your own eye?

Do not give dogs what is sacred and do not throw pearls before swine, in case they trample them under foot and turn to gore you.
