So he left them and went back for the third time, praying in the same words as before.

(pagans make all that their aim in life) for your heavenly Father knows quite well you need all that.

but when they discovered he was a Jew, a roar broke from them all, and for about two hours they shouted, "Great is Artemis of Ephesus! Great is Artemis of Ephesus!"

Again he went away for the second time and prayed, "My Father, if this cup cannot pass unless I drink it, thy will be done."

Then he went forward a little and fell on his face praying, "My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass me. Yet, not what I will but what thou wilt."

If he refuses to listen to them, tell the church; and if he refuses to listen to the church, treat him as a pagan or a taxgatherer.
