On entering the city they went to the upper room where they were in the habit of meeting; there were Peter, John, James, Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James (the son of Alphaeus) and Simon who had been a Zealot, with Judas the son of James.

Then going on from there he saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedaeus and his brother John, mending their nets in the boat beside their father Zebedaeus. He called them,

Philip went and told Andrew; Andrew and Philip went and told Jesus.

One of his disciples, Andrew the brother of Simon Peter, said to him,

as was the case with James and John, the sons of Zebedaeus, who were partners of Simon. Then said Jesus to Simon, "Have no fear; from now your catch will be men."

This was the disciple who bears testimony to these facts and who wrote them down; his testimony, we know, is true.

Peter turned round and saw that the favourite disciple of Jesus was following, the disciple who had leant on his breast at supper and put the question, "Lord, who is to betray you?"

Simon Peter, Thomas (who was called 'the Twin'), Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, the two sons of Zebedaeus, and two other disciples of his, were all together.

she ran off to Simon Peter and to the other disciple, the favourite of Jesus, telling them, "They have taken the master out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have put him!"

As one of his disciples was reclining on his breast — he was the favourite of Jesus —

and when the hour came he took his place, with the apostles beside him.

So Jesus despatched Peter and John, saying, "Go and prepare the passover for us that we may eat it."

Then the apostles came back and described all they had done to Jesus. He took them and retired in private to a town called Bethsaida,

And as he sat on the Hill of Olives opposite the temple, Peter and James and John and Andrew asked him in private,

On leaving the synagogue they went straight to the house of Simon and Andrew, accompanied by James and John.

But he took Peter and the two sons of Zebedaeus along with him; and when he began to feel distressed and agitated,

Then the mother of the sons of Zebedaeus came up to him with her sons, praying him for a favour.

Six days afterwards Jesus took Peter, James and his brother John, and led them up a high hill by themselves;

I John saw and heard all this; and when I heard and saw it, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel who had shown me it all.

A revelation by Jesus Christ, which God granted him for his servants, to show them what must come to pass very soon; he disclosed it by sending it through his angel to his servant John,

The presbyter, to the beloved Gaius whom I love in the Truth.

O heaven, rejoice over her! Saints, apostles, prophets, rejoice! For God has avenged you on her now."

Now the apostles gathered to meet Jesus and reported to him all they had done and taught.

So Jesus said to the twelve, "You do not want to go, too?"

Jesus answered them, "Did I not choose you, the twelve? And yet one of you is a devil!"

(He meant Judas the son of Simon Iscariot; for Judas was to betray him — and he was one of the twelve.)
