Pilate asked him, "Are you the king of the Jews?" He replied, "Certainly."

asking, "Where is the newly-born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose, and we have come to worship him."

In the presence of God who is the Life of all, and of Christ Jesus who testified to the good confession before Pontius Pilate, I charge you

The inscription bearing his charge was: THE KING OF THE JEWS.

and began to salute him with, "Hail, O king of the Jews!"

Pilate asked them again, "And what am I to do with your so-called king of the Jews?"

Pilate replied, "Would you like me to release the king of the Jews for you?"

Then the high priest brought many accusations against him,
