And he called his disciples and said to them, "I tell you truly, this poor widow has put in more than all who have put their money into the treasury;
Amid a severe ordeal of trouble, their overflowing joy and their deep poverty together have poured out a flood of rich generosity;
So the disciples put aside money, as each of them was able to afford it, for a contribution to be sent to the brothers in Judaea.
If only one is ready to give, according to his means, it is acceptable; he is not asked to give what he has not got.
And whoever gives one of these little ones even a cup of cold water because he is a disciple, I tell you, he shall not lose his reward."
but a poor widow came up and put in two little coins amounting to a halfpenny.
for they have all put in a contribution out of their surplus, but she has given out of her neediness all she possessed, her whole living."
These words he spoke in the treasury, as he was teaching in the temple, but no one arrested him, because his time had not come yet.
