Jesus said, "You do not know what you are asking. Can you drink the cup I have to drink, or undergo the baptism I have to undergo?"
I have a baptism to undergo. How I am distressed till it is all over!
whereupon Jesus said to Peter, "Sheathe your sword. Am I not to drink the cup which the Father has handed me?"
you do ask and you do not get it, because you ask with the wicked intention of spending it on your pleasures.
So too the Spirit assists us in our weakness; for we do not know how to pray aright, but the Spirit pleads for us with sighs that are beyond words,
saying, "Father, if it please thee, take this cup away from me. But thy will, not mine, be done."
"Abba, Father," he said, "thou canst do anything. Take this cup away from me. Yet, not what I will but what thou wilt."
Then he went forward a little and fell on his face praying, "My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass me. Yet, not what I will but what thou wilt."
and got baptized by him in the Jordan, confessing their sins.
