Everyone who comes to me and listens to my words and acts upon them, I will show you whom he is like.

If you love me you will keep my commands,

Jesus said, "I am the bread of life; he who comes to me will never be hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty again.

but you refuse to come to me for life.

Those 'on the rock' are people who on hearing the word welcome it with enthusiasm, but they have no root; they believe for a while and fall away in the hour of trial.
