Jesus replied to him, "It is written, Man is not to live on bread alone."

He answered, "It is written, Man is not to live on bread alone, but on every word that issues from the mouth of God."

put on salvation as your helmet, and take the Spirit as your sword (that is, the word of God),

Do not be troubled, then, and cry, 'What are we to eat?' or 'what are we to drink?' or 'how are we to be clothed?'

for it is written, He will give his angels charge of you,

Jesus answered him, "It is written, You must worship the Lord your God, and serve him alone."

And he said to them, "When I sent you out with neither purse nor wallet nor sandals, did you want for anything?" "No," they said, "for nothing."

The devil said to him, "If you are God's son, tell this stone to become a loaf."
