Then he ordered the crowds to recline on the grass, and after taking the five loaves and the two fish he looked up to heaven, blessed them, and after breaking the loaves handed them to the disciples, and the disciples handed them to the crowds.

Then they related their own experience on the road and how they had recognized him when he broke the loaf.

As they were eating he took a loaf and after the blessing he broke it; then he gave it to the disciples saying, "Take and eat this, it means my body."

but they pressed him, saying, "Stay with us, for it is getting towards evening and the day has now declined." So he went in to stay with them.

They devoted themselves to the instruction given by the apostles and to fellowship, breaking bread and praying together.

Day after day they resorted with one accord to the temple and broke bread together in their own homes; they ate with a glad and simple heart,
