the Lord turned round and looked at Peter, and then Peter remembered what the Lord had told him, that 'Before cock-crow to-day you will disown me three times.'

Jesus said, "I tell you, Peter, the cock will not crow to-day before you have three times denied that you know me."

Now, remember the height from which you have fallen; repent and act as you did at first. If not, I will come to you [very soon] and remove your lamp stand, unless you repent.

So John summoned two of his disciples and sent them to ask the Lord, "Are you the Coming One? Or are we to look out for someone else?"

"Man," said Peter, "I do not know what you mean." Instantly, just as he was speaking, the cock crowed;

And he went outside and wept bitterly.
