"Tell us," they said, "what authority you have for acting in this way? Who was it that gave you this authority?"

But the man who was injuring his neighbour pushed him aside. "Who made you ruler and umpire over us?" he asked.

Then the Jews accosted him with the words, "What sign of authority have you to show us, for acting in this way?"

Stiff-necked, uncircumcised in heart and ear, you are always resisting the holy Spirit! As with your fathers, so with you!
