I call you servants no longer, because a servant does not know what his master is doing: I call you friends, because I have imparted to you all that I have learned from my Father.

but now you want to kill me — to kill a man who has told you the truth, the truth I have learned from God. Abraham did not do that.

They said, "Who are you?" Jesus replied, "Why should I talk to you at all?

They did not understand he was speaking to them about the Father;

Jesus answered, "I have spoken openly to the world; I have always taught in the synagogues and in the temple, where all Jews gather; I have said nothing in secret.
