and they came and told John, "Rabbi, the man who was with you on the opposite side of the Jordan, the man to whom you bore testimony — here he is, baptizing, and everybody goes to him!"

he came for the purpose of witnessing, to bear testimony to the Light, so that all men might believe by means of him.

Then said the Pharisees to one another, "You see, you can do nothing! Look, the world has gone after him."
