they both started to run, but the other disciple ran ahead, faster than Peter, and got to the tomb first.

If only one is ready to give, according to his means, it is acceptable; he is not asked to give what he has not got.

Do you not know that in a race, though all run, only one man gains the prize? Run so as to win the prize.

So Peter and the other disciple set out for the tomb;

He glanced in and saw the bandages lying on the ground, but he did not go inside.

Upon this the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, went inside too, and when he saw for himself he was convinced.
