They will do all this to you on account of my name, because they know not him who sent me.

O just Father, though the world has not known thee, I have known thee, and they have known that thou hast sent me;

in flaming fire, to inflict punishment on those who ignore God, even on those who refuse obedience to the gospel of our Lord Jesus,

but you do not understand him. I know him. Were I to say, 'I do not know him,' I would be a liar like yourselves; but I do know him and I hold to his word.

he who does not love, does not know God, for God is love.

'Born of him!' Think what a love the Father has for us, in letting us be called 'children of God!' That is what we are. The world does not recognize us? That is simply because it did not recognize him.

And this is eternal life, that they know thee, the only real God, and him whom thou hast sent, even Jesus Christ.

We know that the Son of God has come, and has given us insight to know Him who is the Real God; and we are in Him who is real, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the real God, this is life eternal.

None of the Powers of this world understands it (if they had, they would never have crucified the Lord of glory).

"All has been handed over to me by my Father: and no one knows who the Son is except the Father, or who the Father is except the Son, and he to whom the Son chooses to reveal him."

though I had formerly been a blasphemer and a persecutor and a wanton aggressor. I obtained mercy because in my unbelief I had acted out of ignorance;

Now I know, brothers, that you acted in ignorance, like your rulers —

No one who disowns the Son can possess the Father: he who confesses the Son possesses the Father as well.
