He answered, "One who has dipped his hand into the same dish as myself is going to betray me.

When I was with them, I kept them by the power of thy Name which thou hast given me; I guarded them, and not one of them perished — only the son of perdition, that the scripture might be fulfilled.

and as they were eating he said, "One of you is going to betray me."

and when evening fell he arrived along with the twelve.

As they were at table eating, Jesus said, "Truly I tell you, one of you is going to betray me, one who is eating with me."

But the hand of my betrayer is on the table beside me!

On saying this, Jesus was disquieted in spirit: he testified and said, "Truly, truly I tell you, one of you will betray me."

The disciples looked at each other, at a loss to know which of them he meant.

It is that the word written in their Law may be fulfilled: they hated me for no cause.

(that the word of Jesus might be fulfilled, by which he had indicated the kind of death he was to die).

they said to themselves, "Don't let us tear it. Let us draw lots to see who gets it" (that the scripture might be fulfilled, they distributed my clothes among them, and drew lots for my raiment). This was what the soldiers did.

For this took place that the scripture might be fulfilled, Not a bone of him will be broken.

down to the day when, after issuing his orders by the holy Spirit to the disciples whom he had chosen, he was taken up to heaven.

"My brothers," said he, "it had to be fulfilled, that scripture which the holy Spirit uttered beforehand by the lips of David with regard to Judas who acted as guide to those who arrested Jesus.
