We all make many a slip, but whoever avoids slips of speech is a perfect man; he can bridle the whole of the body as well as the tongue.

Whoever considers he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue, but deceives his own heart, his religion is futile.

For the passion of the flesh is against the Spirit, and the passion of the Spirit against the flesh — the two are at issue, so that you are not free to do as you please.

You brood of vipers, how can you speak good when you are evil? For the mouth utters what the heart is full of.
