Peter looked at him steadily, as did John, and said, "Look at us."
"Did I not tell you," said Jesus, "if you will only believe, you shall see the glory of God?"
But when Peter saw this, he said to the people, "Men of Israel, why are you surprised at this? Why do you stare at us, as if we had made him walk by any power or piety of ours?
Then, folding up the book, he handed it back to the attendant and sat down. The eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on him,
Jesus saw him lying, and knowing he had been ill for a long while he said to him, "Do you want your health restored?"
and when I looked steadily at it, I noted the quadrupeds of the earth, the wild beasts, the creeping things and the wild birds.
Peter and John were on their way up to the temple for the hour of prayer at three in the afternoon,
When he noticed that Peter and John meant to go into the temple, he asked them for alms.
The man attended, expecting to get something from them.
As he clung to Peter and John, all the people rushed awestruck to them in what was called Solomon's portico.
He stared at the angel in terror, saying, "What is it?" He replied, "Your prayers and your alms have risen before God as a sacrifice to be remembered.
