Devout men buried Stephen and made loud lamentation over him,

Now there was a man in Jerusalem called Symeon, an upright and devout man, who was on the outlook for the Consolation of Israel. The holy Spirit was upon him;

that is, if you adhere to the foundations and stability of the faith, instead of moving away from the hope you have learned in the gospel, that gospel which has been preached to every creature under heaven, and of which I Paul was made a minister.

Then a certain Ananias, a devout man in the Law, who had a good reputation among all the Jewish inhabitants,

But the Jews incited the devout women of high rank and the leading men in the town, who stirred up persecution against Paul and Barnabas and drove them out of their territory.

When the angel who spoke to him had left, he called two of his menservants and a religiously minded soldier who belonged to his personal retinue,

a religious man, who reverenced God with all his household, who was liberal in his alms to the People, and who constantly prayed to God.

So he got up and went on his way. Now there was an Ethiopian eunuch, a high official of Candace the queen of the Ethiopians (he was her chief treasurer), who had come to Jerusalem for worship

During the course of the day of Pentecost they were all together,

Now there were some Greeks among those who had come up to worship at the festival;

and one of them, called Cleopas, answered him, "Are you a lone stranger in Jerusalem, not to know what has been happening there?"

for like lightning that flashes from one side of the sky to the other, so will the Son of man be on his own day.

This gospel of the Reign shall be preached all over the wide world as a testimony to all the Gentiles, and then the end will come.
