It is only natural for me to be thinking of you all in this way, for alike in my prison and as I defend and vindicate the gospel, I bear in mind how you all share with me in the grace divine.

see that you have a clean conscience, so that, for all their slander of you, these libellers of your good Christian behaviour may be ashamed.

and to governors as deputed by him for the punishment of wrongdoers and the encouragement of honest people —

May the Lord show favour to the household of Onesiphorus, for many a time he braced me up; he was not ashamed of my imprisonment —

Two criminals were also led out with him to be executed,

Then the commander came up and seized him; he ordered him to be bound with a couple of chains, and asked "Who is he?" and "What has he done?"

but the former proclaim Christ for their own ends, with mixed motives, intending to annoy me as I lie in prison.

for the word of the Lord has resounded from you not only through Macedonia and Achaia — no, your faith in God has reached every place. We never need to speak about it.

Join the ranks of those who bear suffering, like a loyal soldier of Christ Jesus.
