for though they keep up a form of religion, they will have nothing to do with it as a force. Avoid all such.

in their lust they will exploit you with cunning arguments — men whose doom comes apace from of old, and destruction is awake upon their trail.

The training of the body is of small service, but religion is of service in all directions; it contains the promise of life both for the present and for the future.
