Then a ruler asked him, "Good teacher, what am I to do to inherit life eternal?"

Now a jurist got up to tempt him. "Teacher," he said, "what am I to do to inherit life eternal?"

Everyone who has left brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands or houses for my name's sake will get a hundred times as much and inherit life eternal.

Then he calls those whom he has thus decreed; then he justifies those whom he has called; then he glorifies those whom he has justified.

As he went out on the road a man ran up and knelt down before him. "Good teacher," he asked, "what must I do to inherit life eternal?"

that the blessing of Abraham might reach the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promised Spirit.

You know how later on, when he wanted to obtain his inheritance of blessing, he was set aside; he got no chance to repent, though he tried for it with tears.
