Or is he speaking purely for our sakes? Assuredly for our sakes. This word was written for us, because the ploughman needs to plough in hope, and the thresher to thresh in the hope of getting a share in the crop.

The farmer who has done the work must have the first share of the fruit.

All such words were written of old for our instruction, that by remaining stedfast and drawing encouragement from the scriptures we may cherish hope.

It is all in your interests, so that the more grace abounds, the more thanksgiving may rise and redound to the glory of God.

We work together in God's service; you are God's field to be planted, God's house to be built.

Had not those days been cut short, not a soul would be saved alive; however, for the sake of the elect, those days will be cut short.
