Otherwise, suppose you are blessing God in the Spirit, how is the outsider to say 'Amen' to your thanksgiving? The man does not understand what you are saying!

"Amen," said the four living Creatures, and the Presbyters fell down and worshipped.

and after thanking God he broke it, saying, 'This means my body broken for you; do this in memory of me.'

and crying, "Even so! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honour and power and might be to our God for ever and ever: Amen!"

He who bears this testimony says, "Even so: I am coming very soon." Amen, Lord Jesus, come!

and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.'

He took the seven loaves and the fish and after giving thanks he broke them and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples to the crowds.

for in him is the 'yes' that affirms all the promises of God. Hence it is through him that we affirm our 'amen' in worship, to the glory of God.
