We are become a reproach to our neighbours, a scorn and derision to them that are round about us.

Thou makest us a strife unto our neighbours: and our enemies laugh among themselves.

O YY , according to all thy righteousness, I beseech thee, let thine anger and thy fury be turned away from thy city Yerushalayim, thy holy mountain: because for our sins, and for the iniquities of our fathers, Yerushalayim and thy people are become a reproach to all that are about us.

Neither will I cause men to hear in thee the shame of the heathen any more, neither shalt thou bear the reproach of the people any more, neither shalt thou cause thy nations to fall any more, saith YY Elohim.

Therefore prophesy and say, Thus saith YY Elohim; Because they have made you desolate, and swallowed you up on every side, that ye might be a possession unto the residue of the heathen, and ye are taken up in the lips of talkers, and are an infamy of the people:

And thou shalt know that I am YY , and that I have heard all thy blasphemies which thou hast spoken against the mountains of Yisrael, saying, They are laid desolate, they are given us to consume.

Remember, O YY , what is come upon us: consider, and behold our reproach.

For thus saith YY -TZvaot, the Elohim of Yisrael; As mine anger and my fury hath been poured forth upon the inhabitants of Yerushalayim; so shall my fury be poured forth upon you, when ye shall enter into Egypt: and ye shall be an execration, and an astonishment, and a curse, and a reproach; and ye shall see this place no more.

To wit, Yerushalayim, and the cities of Yhudah, and the kings thereof, and the princes thereof, to make them a desolation, an astonishment, an hissing, and a curse; as it is this day;

And I will deliver them to be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth for their hurt, to be a reproach and a proverb, a taunt and a curse, in all places whither I shall drive them.

All that pass by the way spoil him: he is a reproach to his neighbours.

But when Sanvalat the Horonite, and Toviyah the servant, the Ammonite, and Geshem the Arabian, heard it, they laughed us to scorn, and despised us, and said, What is this thing that ye do? will ye rebel against the king?

Then will I cut off Yisrael out of the land which I have given them; and this house, which I have hallowed for my name, will I cast out of my sight; and Yisrael shall be a proverb and a byword among all people:

And thou shalt become an astonishment, a proverb, and a byword, among all nations whither YY shall lead thee.

And they said unto me, The remnant that are left of the captivity there in the province are in great affliction and reproach: the wall of Yerushalayim also is broken down, and the gates thereof are burned with fire.

Therefore I have profaned the princes of the sanctuary, and have given Yaakov to the curse, and Yisrael to reproaches.

We are confounded, because we have heard reproach: shame hath covered our faces: for strangers are come into the sanctuaries of YY 's house.

All her people sigh, they seek bread; they have given their pleasant things for meat to relieve the soul: see, O YY , and consider; for I am become vile.

Those that be near, and those that be far from thee, shall mock thee, which art infamous and much vexed.

I will gather them that are sorrowful for the solemn assembly, who are of thee, to whom the reproach of it was a burden.

And it shall come to pass, that as ye were a curse among the heathen, O house of Yhudah, and house of Yisrael; so will I save you, and ye shall be a blessing: fear not, but let your hands be strong.
