He sent messengers therefore unto Bilam the son of Beor to Pethor, which is by the river of the land of the children of his people, to call him, saying, Behold, there is a people come out from Egypt: behold, they cover the face of the earth, and they abide over against me:

Because they met you not with bread and with water in the way, when ye came forth out of Egypt; and because they hired against thee Bilam the son of Beor of Pethor of Mesopotamia, to curse thee.

O my people, remember now what Balak king of Moab consulted, and what Bilam the son of Beor answered him from Shittim unto Gilgal; that ye may know the righteousness of YY .

Then Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, arose and warred against Yisrael, and sent and called Bilam the son of Beor to curse you:

Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Kayin, and ran greedily after the error of Bilam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Korach.

But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the teaching of Bilam, who taught Balak to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Yisrael, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication.

Bilam also the son of Beor, the soothsayer, did the children of Yisrael slay with the sword among them that were slain by them.

And he took up his parable, and said, Balak the king of Moab hath brought me from Aram, out of the mountains of the east, saying, Come, curse me Yaakov, and come, defy Yisrael.

And he increased his people greatly; and made them stronger than their enemies.

And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth: so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then shall thy seed also be numbered.

For they covered the face of the whole earth, so that the land was darkened; and they did eat every herb of the land, and all the fruit of the trees which the hail had left: and there remained not any green thing in the trees, or in the herbs of the field, through all the land of Egypt.

And they slew the kings of Midian, beside the rest of them that were slain; namely, Evi, and Rekem, and Zur, and Hur, and Reba, five kings of Midian: Bilam also the son of Beor they slew with the sword.

Nevertheless YY thy Elohim would not hearken unto Bilam; but YY thy Elohim turned the curse into a blessing unto thee, because YY thy Elohim loved thee.
