Nehemiah 13:1

On that day they read in the book of Moshe in the audience of the people; and therein was found written, that the Ammonite and the Moabite should not come into the congregation of Elohim for ever;

And they stood up in their place, and read in the book of the Torah of YY their Elohim one fourth part of the day; and another fourth part they confessed, and worshipped YY their Elohim.

In those days also saw I Jews that had married wives of Ashdod, of Ammon, and of Moab:

And the king went up into the house of YY , and all the men of Yhudah and all the inhabitants of Yerushalayim with him, and the kohanim, and the prophets, and all the people, both small and great: and he read in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant which was found in the house of YY .

For Moshe of old time hath in every city them that preach him, being read in the Synagogues every Sabbath Day.

And after the reading of the Torah and the prophets the rulers of the Synagogue sent unto them, saying, Ye men and brethren, if ye have any word of exhortation for the people, say on.

He said unto him, What is written in the Torah? how readest thou?

Thus saith YY ; For three transgressions of the children of Ammon, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have ripped up the women with child of Gilad, that they might enlarge their border:

Against Moab thus saith YY -TZvaot, the Elohim of Yisrael; Woe unto Nvo! for it is spoiled: Kiriathaim is confounded and taken: Misgab is confounded and dismayed.

Seek ye out of the book of YY , and read: no one of these shall fail, none shall want her mate: for my mouth it hath Commanded, and his spirit it hath gathered them.

Now Toviyah the Ammonite was by him, and he said, Even that which they build, if a fox go up, he shall even break down their stone wall.

But when Sanvalat the Horonite, and Toviyah the servant, the Ammonite, and Geshem the Arabian, heard it, they laughed us to scorn, and despised us, and said, What is this thing that ye do? will ye rebel against the king?

When Sanvalat the Horonite, and Toviyah the servant, the Ammonite, heard of it, it grieved them exceedingly that there was come a man to seek the welfare of the children of Yisrael.

He sent messengers therefore unto Bilam the son of Beor to Pethor, which is by the river of the land of the children of his people, to call him, saying, Behold, there is a people come out from Egypt: behold, they cover the face of the earth, and they abide over against me:

And Ezra the kohen brought the Torah before the congregation both of men and women, and all that could hear with understanding, upon the first day of the seventh month.
