Then said Pilate unto him, Hearest thou not how many things they witness against thee?
And kohen hagadol arose, and said unto him, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee?
The chief captain commanded him to be brought into the castle, and bade that he should be examined by scourging; that he might know wherefore they cried so against him.
Pilate answered, Am I a Jew? Thine own nation and the chief kohanim have delivered thee unto me: what hast thou done?
And when he was accused of the chief kohanim and elders, he answered nothing.
And he answered him to never a word; insomuch that the governor marvelled greatly.
