How he went into the house of Elohim in the days of Evyatar kohen hagadol, and did eat the shewbread, which is not lawful to eat but for the kohanim, and gave also to them which were with him?
And Shemaiah the son of Nethaneel the scribe, one of the Lvim, wrote them before the king, and the princes, and Zadok the kohen, and Ahimelech the son of Evyatar, and before the chief of the fathers of the kohanim and Lvim: one principal household being taken for Eleazar, and one taken for Ithamar.
Then came David to Nob to Ahimelech the kohen: and Ahimelech was afraid at the meeting of David, and said unto him, Why art thou alone, and no man with thee?
And king Shlomo answered and said unto his mother, And why dost thou ask Abishag the Shunammite for AdoniYAH? ask for him the kingdom also; for he is mine elder brother; even for him, and for Evyatar the kohen, and for Yoav the son of TZruyah.
And hast thou not there with thee Zadok and Evyatar the kohanim? therefore it shall be, that what thing soever thou shalt hear out of the king's house, thou shalt tell it to Zadok and Evyatar the kohanim.
And lo Zadok also, and all the Lvim were with him, bearing the ark of the covenant of Elohim: and they set down the ark of Elohim; and Evyatar went up, until all the people had done passing out of the city.
