But if we shall say, Of men; we fear the people; for all hold Yochanan as a prophet.

But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? yea, I say unto you, and more than a prophet.

Then went the captain with the officers, and brought them without violence: for they feared the people, lest they should have been stoned.

And many resorted unto him, and said, Yochanan did no miracle: but all things that Yochanan spake of this man were true.

And thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Highest: for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways;

And they sought to lay hold on him, but feared the people: for they knew that he had spoken the parable against them: and they left him, and went their way.

But they said, Not on the Feast Day, lest there be an uproar among the people.

But when they sought to lay hands on him, they feared the multitude, because they took him for a prophet.

And when he would have put him to death, he feared the multitude, because they counted him as a prophet.

But the Prushim and lawyers rejected the counsel of Elohim against themselves, being not immersed of him.

And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say, Why then believed ye him not?

And they answered, that they could not tell whence it was.
