How doth the city sit solitary, that was full of people! how is she become as a widow! she that was great among the nations, and princess among the provinces, how is she become tributary!
There have been mighty kings also over Yerushalayim, which have ruled over all countries beyond the river; and toll, tribute, and custom, was paid unto them.

For thus saith YY ; Sing with gladness for Yaakov, and shout among the chief of the nations: publish ye, praise ye, and say, O YY , save thy people, the remnant of Yisrael.

Wherefore my fury and mine anger was poured forth, and was kindled in the cities of Yhudah and in the streets of Yerushalayim; and they are wasted and desolate, as at this day.
I called for my lovers, but they deceived me: my kohanim and mine elders gave up the ghost in the city, while they sought their meat to relieve their souls.
