That they feared greatly, because Givon was a great city, as one of the royal cities, and because it was greater than Ai, and all the men thereof were mighty.

And the children of Yisrael journeyed, and came unto their cities on the third day. Now their cities were Givon, and Chephirah, and Beeroth, and Kiryat-Yearim.

They did work wilily, and went and made as if they had been ambassadors, and took old sacks upon their asses, and wine bottles, old, and rent, and bound up;

And Y'howshu`a called for them, and he spake unto them, saying, Wherefore have ye beguiled us, saying, We are very far from you; when ye dwell among us?

There was not a city that made peace with the children of Yisrael, save the Hivi the inhabitants of Givon: all other they took in battle.

And out of the tribe of Binyamin, Givon with her suburbs, Geba with her suburbs,

And it came to pass the same year, in the beginning of the reign of TZidkiyah-yahu king of Yhudah, in the fourth year, and in the fifth month, that Hananiah the son of Azur the prophet, which was of Givon, spake unto me in the house of YY , in the presence of the kohanim and of all the people, saying,

Now it came to pass, when Adonizedec king of Yerushalayim had heard how Y'howshu`a had taken Ai, and had utterly destroyed it; as he had done to Yericho and her king, so he had done to Ai and her king; and how the inhabitants of Givon had made peace with Yisrael, and were among them;

And that day Y'howshu`a took Makkedah, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and the king thereof he utterly destroyed, them, and all the souls that were therein; he let none remain: and he did to the king of Makkedah as he did unto the king of Yericho.

And YY delivered it also, and the king thereof, into the hand of Yisrael; and he smote it with the edge of the sword, and all the souls that were therein; he let none remain in it; but did unto the king thereof as he did unto the king of Yericho.

Givon, and Ramah, and Beeroth,

And Abner the son of Ner, and the servants of Ishbosheth the son of Saul, went out from Mahanaim to Givon.

And Ismaiah the Givonite, a mighty man among the thirty, and over the thirty; and Yirmeyah-yahu, and YAHaziel, and Johanan, and Josabad the Gederathite,

So Shlomo, and all the congregation with him, went to the high place that was at Givon; for there was the tabernacle of the congregation of Elohim, which Moshe the servant of YY had made in the wilderness.
