And thou shalt do to Ai and her king as thou didst unto Yericho and her king: only the spoil thereof, and the cattle thereof, shall ye take for a prey unto yourselves: lay thee an ambush for the city behind it.

But the women, and the little ones, and the cattle, and all that is in the city, even all the spoil thereof, shalt thou take unto thyself; and thou shalt eat the spoil of thine enemies, which YY thy Elohim hath given thee.

A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children's children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.

And when they began to sing and to praise, YY set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Yhudah; and they were smitten.

And they utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, young and old, and ox, and sheep, and ass, with the edge of the sword.

Set up the standard upon the walls of Bavel, make the watch strong, set up the watchmen, prepare the ambushes: for YY hath both devised and done that which he spake against the inhabitants of Bavel.

As the partridge sitteth on eggs, and hatcheth them not; so he that getteth riches, and not by right, shall leave them in the midst of his days, and at his end shall be a fool.

A faithful man shall abound with blessings: but he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent.

Surely every man walketh in a vain shew: surely they are disquieted in vain: he heapeth up riches, and knoweth not who shall gather them.

But Yarovam caused an ambushment to come about behind them: so they were before Yhudah, and the ambushment was behind them.

And that day Y'howshu`a took Makkedah, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and the king thereof he utterly destroyed, them, and all the souls that were therein; he let none remain: and he did to the king of Makkedah as he did unto the king of Yericho.

Now it came to pass, when Adonizedec king of Yerushalayim had heard how Y'howshu`a had taken Ai, and had utterly destroyed it; as he had done to Yericho and her king, so he had done to Ai and her king; and how the inhabitants of Givon had made peace with Yisrael, and were among them;

And it came to pass, when Yisrael had made an end of slaying all the inhabitants of Ai in the field, in the wilderness wherein they chased them, and when they were all fallen on the edge of the sword, until they were consumed, that all the Yisraelites returned unto Ai, and smote it with the edge of the sword.

And the ambush arose quickly out of their place, and they ran as soon as he had stretched out his hand: and they entered into the city, and took it, and hasted and set the city on fire.

And it came to pass, when the king of Ai saw it, that they hasted and rose up early, and the men of the city went out against Yisrael to battle, he and all his people, at a time appointed, before the plain; but he wist not that there were liers in ambush against him behind the city.

And he took about five thousand men, and set them to lie in ambush between Beit-El and Ai, on the west side of the city.

Y'howshu`a therefore sent them forth: and they went to lie in ambush, and abode between Beit-El and Ai, on the west side of Ai: but Y'howshu`a lodged that night among the people.

Then ye shall rise up from the ambush, and seize upon the city: for YY your Elohim will deliver it into your hand.

And YY said unto me, Fear him not: for I will deliver him, and all his people, and his land, into thy hand; and thou shalt do unto him as thou didst unto Sihon king of the Amorites, which dwelt at Heshbon.

So Y'howshu`a arose, and all the people of war, to go up against Ai: and Y'howshu`a chose out thirty thousand mighty men of valour, and sent them away by night.

And it shall be, when ye have taken the city, that ye shall set the city on fire: according to The Commandment of YY shall ye do. See, I have Commanded you.

Only the cattle we took for a prey unto ourselves, and the spoil of the cities which we took.

And when the inhabitants of Givon heard what Y'howshu`a had done unto Yericho and to Ai,

And all the spoil of these cities, and the cattle, the children of Yisrael took for a prey unto themselves; but every man they smote with the edge of the sword, until they had destroyed them, neither left they any to breathe.
