Did not Achan the son of Zerah commit a trespass in the accursed thing, and wrath fell on all the congregation of Yisrael? and that man perished not alone in his iniquity.

And the men of Ai smote of them about thirty and six men: for they chased them from before the gate even unto Shvarim, and smote them in the going down: wherefore the hearts of the people melted, and became as water.

But the children of Yisrael committed a trespass in the accursed thing: for Achan, the son of Karmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Yhudah, took of the accursed thing: and the anger of YY was kindled against the children of Yisrael.

Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.

And Y'howshu`a, and all Yisrael with him, took Achan the son of Zerah, and the silver, and the garment, and the wedge of gold, and his sons, and his daughters, and his oxen, and his asses, and his sheep, and his tent, and all that he had: and they brought them unto the valley of Achor.

And he brought his household man by man; and Achan, the son of Karmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Yhudah, was taken.

And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ung-dly;

And Moshe said unto Aharon, and unto Eleazar and unto Ithamar, his sons, Uncover not your heads, neither rend your clothes; lest ye die, and lest wrath come upon all the people: but let your brethren, the whole house of Yisrael, bewail the burning which YY hath kindled.

Then the children of Reuven and the children of Gad and the half tribe of Mnasheh answered, and said unto the heads of the thousands of Yisrael,

And they left the house of YY Elohim of their fathers, and served groves and idols: and wrath came upon Yhudah and Yerushalayim for this their trespass.

Thy wickedness may hurt a man as thou art; and thy righteousness may profit the son of man.
