For Pharaoh king of Egypt had gone up, and taken Gezer, and burnt it with fire, and slain the Kenaanim that dwelt in the city, and given it for a present unto his daughter, Shlomo's wife.
Their children that were left after them in the land, whom the children of Yisrael also were not able utterly to destroy, upon those did Shlomo levy a tribute of bondservice unto this day.
As for the Yvusis the inhabitants of Yerushalayim, the children of Yhudah could not drive them out; but the Yvusis dwell with the children of Yhudah at Yerushalayim unto this day.
And this is the reason of the levy which king Shlomo raised; for to build the house of YY , and his own house, and Millo, and the wall of Yerushalayim, and Hazor, and Megiddo, and Gezer.
But of their children, who were left after them in the land, whom the children of Yisrael consumed not, them did Shlomo make to pay tribute until this day.
