For thou hast made of a city an heap; of a defenced city a ruin: a palace of strangers to be no city; it shall never be built.

And Bavel shall become heaps, a dwellingplace for dragons, an astonishment, and an hissing, without an inhabitant.

Behold, the noise of the bruit is come, and a great commotion out of the north country, to make the cities of Yhudah desolate, and a den of dragons.

And tshofars shall come up in her palaces, nettles and brambles in the fortresses thereof: and it shall be an habitation of dragons, and a court for owls.

And the wild beasts of the islands shall cry in their desolate houses, and dragons in their pleasant palaces: and her time is near to come, and her days shall not be prolonged.

Therefore shall TZiyon for your sake be plowed as a field, and Yerushalayim shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house as the high places of the forest.

Fear and a snare is come upon us, desolation and destruction.

YY hath swallowed up all the habitations of Yaakov, and hath not pitied: he hath thrown down in his wrath the strong holds of the daughter of Yhudah; he hath brought them down to the ground: he hath polluted the kingdom and the princes thereof.

Behold, I will command, saith YY , and cause them to return to this city; and they shall fight against it, and take it, and burn it with fire: and I will make the cities of Yhudah a desolation without an inhabitant.

Mikhah the Morasthite prophesied in the days of Hizkiyah-yahu king of Yhudah, and spake to all the people of Yhudah, saying, Thus saith YY -TZvaot; TZiyon shall be plowed like a field, and Yerushalayim shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house as the high places of a forest.

And this whole land shall be a desolation, and an astonishment; and these nations shall serve the king of Bavel seventy years.

O Elohim, the heathen are come into thine inheritance; thy holy temple have they defiled; they have laid Yerushalayim on heaps.

For the statutes of Omri are kept, and all the works of the house of Achav, and ye walk in their counsels; that I should make thee a desolation, and the inhabitants thereof an hissing: therefore ye shall bear the reproach of my people.

Therefore I will make Shomron as an heap of the field, and as plantings of a vineyard: and I will pour down the stones thereof into the valley, and I will discover the foundations thereof.

Why hast thou prophesied in the name of YY , saying, This house shall be like Shiloh, and this city shall be desolate without an inhabitant? And all the people were gathered against Yirmeyah-yahu in the house of YY .

To wit, Yerushalayim, and the cities of Yhudah, and the kings thereof, and the princes thereof, to make them a desolation, an astonishment, an hissing, and a curse; as it is this day;

That confirmeth the word of his servant, and performeth the counsel of his messengers; that saith to Yerushalayim, Thou shalt be inhabited; and to the cities of Yhudah, Ye shall be built, and I will raise up the decayed places thereof:

And he spake before his brethren and the army of Shomron, and said, What do these feeble Jews? will they fortify themselves? will they sacrifice? will they make an end in a day? will they revive the stones out of the heaps of the rubbish which are burned?

And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Bavel the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.

And I will bring the land into desolation: and your enemies which dwell therein shall be astonished at it.

Though thou hast sore broken us in the place of dragons, and covered us with the shadow of death.

For, lo, I will call all the families of the kingdoms of the north, saith YY ; and they shall come, and they shall set every one his Throne at the entering of the gates of Yerushalayim, and against all the walls thereof round about, and against all the cities of Yhudah.

For thus hath YY said, The whole land shall be desolate; yet will I not make a full end.

Thus saith YY -TZvaot, the Elohim of Yisrael; Ye have seen all the evil that I have brought upon Yerushalayim, and upon all the cities of Yhudah; and, behold, this day they are a desolation, and no man dwelleth therein,

And Hazor shall be a dwelling for dragons, and a desolation for ever: there shall no man abide there, nor any son of man dwell in it.

For out of the north there cometh up a nation against her, which shall make her land desolate, and none shall dwell therein: they shall remove, they shall depart, both man and beast.

The ways of TZiyon do mourn, because none come to the solemn feasts: all her gates are desolate: her kohanim sigh, her virgins are afflicted, and she is in bitterness.

And that the whole land thereof is brimstone, and salt, and burning, that it is not sown, nor beareth, nor any grass groweth therein, like the overthrow of Sodom, and Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboim, which YY overthrew in his anger, and in his wrath:

Whoso is wise, and will observe these things, even they shall understand the lovingkindness of YY .

Is there no balm in Gilad; is there no physician there? why then is not the health of the daughter of my people recovered?

And it shall come to pass, when thou shalt shew this people all these words, and they shall say unto thee, Wherefore hath YY pronounced all this great evil against us? or what is our iniquity? or what is our sin that we have committed against YY our Elohim?
