Howl, O Heshbon, for Ai is spoiled: cry, ye daughters of Rabbah, gird you with sackcloth; lament, and run to and fro by the hedges; for their king shall go into captivity, and his kohanim and his princes together.

For every head shall be bald, and every beard clipped: upon all the hands shall be cuttings, and upon the loins sackcloth.

Because that they have forsaken me, and have worshipped Ashtoreth the Elohimdess of the Zidonians, Kmosh the Elohim of the Moabites, and Milcom the Elohim of the children of Ammon, and have not walked in my ways, to do that which is right in mine eyes, and to keep my statutes and my judgments, as did David his father.

For Shlomo went after Ashtoreth the Elohimdess of the Zidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites.

Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you.

And them that worship the host of heaven upon the housetops; and them that worship and that swear by YY , and that swear by Malcham;

And their king shall go into captivity, he and his princes together, saith YY .

Bavel is suddenly fallen and destroyed: howl for her; take balm for her pain, if so be she may be healed.

Concerning the Ammonites, thus saith YY ; Hath Yisrael no sons? hath he no heir? why then doth their king inherit Gad, and his people dwell in his cities?

Moab is confounded; for it is broken down: howl and cry; tell ye it in Arnon, that Moab is spoiled,

There shall be no more praise of Moab: in Heshbon they have devised evil against it; come, and let us cut it off from being a nation. Also thou shalt be cut down, O Madmen; the sword shall pursue thee.

O daughter of my people, gird thee with sackcloth, and wallow thyself in ashes: make thee mourning, as for an only son, most bitter lamentation: for the spoiler shall suddenly come upon us.

Pass ye over to Tarshish; howl, ye inhabitants of the isle.

The burden of TZor. Howl, ye ships of Tarshish; for it is laid waste, so that there is no house, no entering in: from the land of Chittim it is revealed to them.

Therefore shall Moab howl for Moab, every one shall howl: for the foundations of KirhareShet shall ye mourn; surely they are stricken.

Howl, O gate; cry, O city; thou, whole Palestina, art dissolved: for there shall come from the north a smoke, and none shall be alone in his appointed times.

Howl ye; for the day of YY is at hand; it shall come as a destruction from El Shaddai.

And Y'howshu`a burnt Ai, and made it an heap for ever, even a desolation unto this day.

And Y'howshu`a sent men from Yericho to Ai, which is beside Bethaven, on the east of Beit-El, and spake unto them, saying, Go up and view the country. And the men went up and viewed Ai.

And YY said unto Y'howshu`a, Fear not, neither be thou dismayed: take all the people of war with thee, and arise, go up to Ai: see, I have given into thy hand the king of Ai, and his people, and his city, and his land:

And it came to pass, after the year was expired, at the time when kings go forth to battle, that David sent Yoav, and his servants with him, and all Yisrael; and they destroyed the children of Ammon, and besieged Rabbah. But David tarried still at Yerushalayim.
