Jeremiah 4:7

The lion is come up from his thicket, and the destroyer of the Gentiles is on his way; he is gone forth from his place to make thy land desolate; and thy cities shall be laid waste, without an inhabitant.

Wherefore a lion out of the forest shall slay them, and a wolf of the evenings shall spoil them, a leopard shall watch over their cities: every one that goeth out thence shall be torn in pieces: because their transgressions are many, and their backslidings are increased.

The young lions roared upon him, and yelled, and they made his land waste: his cities are burned without inhabitant.

Then said I, YY , how long? And he answered, Until the cities be wasted without inhabitant, and the houses without man, and the land be utterly desolate,

Your country is desolate, your cities are burned with fire: your land, strangers devour it in your presence, and it is desolate, as overthrown by strangers.

The first was like a lion, and had eagle's wings: I beheld till the wings thereof were plucked, and it was lifted up from the earth, and made stand upon the feet as a man, and a man's heart was given to it.

Yisrael is a scattered sheep; the lions have driven him away: first the king of Ashur hath devoured him; and last this Nebuchadrezzar king of Bavel hath broken his bones.

Behold, I will send and take all the families of the north, saith YY , and Nebuchadrezzar the king of Bavel, my servant, and will bring them against this land, and against the inhabitants thereof, and against all these nations round about, and will utterly destroy them, and make them an astonishment, and an hissing, and perpetual desolations.

Behold, he shall come up like a lion from the swelling of Yarden against the habitation of the strong: but I will suddenly make him run away from her: and who is a chosen man, that I may appoint over her? for who is like me? and who will appoint me the time? and who is that shepherd that will stand before me?

Behold, I will command, saith YY , and cause them to return to this city; and they shall fight against it, and take it, and burn it with fire: and I will make the cities of Yhudah a desolation without an inhabitant.

Thus saith YY ; Again there shall be heard in this place, which ye say shall be desolate without man and without beast, even in the cities of Yhudah, and in the streets of Yerushalayim, that are desolate, without man, and without inhabitant, and without beast,

Why hast thou prophesied in the name of YY , saying, This house shall be like Shiloh, and this city shall be desolate without an inhabitant? And all the people were gathered against Yirmeyah-yahu in the house of YY .

He hath forsaken his covert, as the lion: for their land is desolate because of the fierceness of the oppressor, and because of his fierce anger.

In mine ears said YY -TZvaot, Of a truth many houses shall be desolate, even great and fair, without inhabitant.

In his days Nebuchadnezzar king of Bavel came up, and Yhoyakhim became his servant three years: then he turned and rebelled against him.

And for the majesty that he gave him, all people, nations, and languages, trembled and feared before him: whom he would he slew; and whom he would he kept alive; and whom he would he set up; and whom he would he put down.

Behold, he shall come up like a lion from the swelling of Yarden unto the habitation of the strong: but I will make them suddenly run away from her: and who is a chosen man, that I may appoint over her? for who is like me? and who will appoint me the time? and who is that shepherd that will stand before me?

And it shall come to pass, that the nation and kingdom which will not serve the same Nebuchadnezzar the king of Bavel, and that will not put their neck under the yoke of the king of Bavel, that nation will I punish, saith YY , with the sword, and with the famine, and with the pestilence, until I have consumed them by his hand.

And I will make Yerushalayim heaps, and a den of dragons; and I will make the cities of Yhudah desolate, without an inhabitant.

And it came to pass in the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, that Nebuchadnezzar king of Bavel came, he, and all his host, against Yerushalayim, and pitched against it; and they built forts against it round about.

The whole city shall flee for the noise of the horsemen and bowmen; they shall go into thickets, and climb up upon the rocks: every city shall be forsaken, and not a man dwell therein.

And I will prepare destroyers against thee, every one with his weapons: and they shall cut down thy choice cedars, and cast them into the fire.

Thus saith YY -TZvaot, the Elohim of Yisrael; Ye have seen all the evil that I have brought upon Yerushalayim, and upon all the cities of Yhudah; and, behold, this day they are a desolation, and no man dwelleth therein,

And the cities that are inhabited shall be laid waste, and the land shall be desolate; and ye shall know that I am YY .

And I will pour out mine indignation upon thee, I will blow against thee in the fire of my wrath, and deliver thee into the hand of brutish men, and skilful to destroy.

Son of man, take up a lamentation for Pharaoh king of Egypt, and say unto him, Thou art like a young lion of the nations, and thou art as a whale in the seas: and thou camest forth with thy rivers, and troubledst the waters with thy feet, and fouledst their rivers.

And I will make your cities waste, and bring your sanctuaries unto desolation, and I will not smell the savour of your sweet odours.

And I will scatter you among the heathen, and will draw out a sword after you: and your land shall be desolate, and your cities waste.

The snorting of his horses was heard from Dan: the whole land trembled at the sound of the neighing of his strong ones; for they are come, and have devoured the land, and all that is in it; the city, and those that dwell therein.

For thus saith YY unto the king's house of Yhudah; Thou art Gilad unto me, and the head of Lvanon: yet surely I will make thee a wilderness, and cities which are not inhabited.

As I live, saith the King, whose name is YY -TZvaot, Surely as Tavor is among the mountains, and as Carmel by the sea, so shall he come.
