For thus saith YY unto the king's house of Yhudah; Thou art Gilad unto me, and the head of Lvanon: yet surely I will make thee a wilderness, and cities which are not inhabited.

Then said I, YY , how long? And he answered, Until the cities be wasted without inhabitant, and the houses without man, and the land be utterly desolate,

A fruitful land into barrenness, for the wickedness of them that dwell therein.

Therefore shall TZiyon for your sake be plowed as a field, and Yerushalayim shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house as the high places of the forest.

Yet the defenced city shall be desolate, and the habitation forsaken, and left like a wilderness: there shall the calf feed, and there shall he lie down, and consume the branches thereof.

Mikhah the Morasthite prophesied in the days of Hizkiyah-yahu king of Yhudah, and spake to all the people of Yhudah, saying, Thus saith YY -TZvaot; TZiyon shall be plowed like a field, and Yerushalayim shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house as the high places of a forest.

And I will make Yerushalayim heaps, and a den of dragons; and I will make the cities of Yhudah desolate, without an inhabitant.

Then will I cause to cease from the cities of Yhudah, and from the streets of Yerushalayim, the voice of mirth, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride: for the land shall be desolate.

And they sat down to eat bread: and they lifted up their eyes and looked, and, behold, a company of Ishmeelites came from Gilad with their camels bearing spicery and balm and myrrh, going to carry it down to Egypt.

As I live, saith YY , though Coniah the son of Yhoyakhim king of Yhudah were the signet upon my right hand, yet would I pluck thee thence;

But I will punish you according to the fruit of your doings, saith YY : and I will kindle a fire in the forest thereof, and it shall devour all things round about it.

And touching the house of the king of Yhudah, say, Hear ye the word of YY ;

Destruction upon destruction is cried; for the whole land is spoiled: suddenly are my tents spoiled, and my curtains in a moment.

His legs are as pillars of marble, set upon sockets of fine gold: his countenance is as Lvanon, excellent as the cedars.

I pray thee, let me go over, and see the good land that is beyond Yarden, that goodly mountain, and Lvanon.

Now the children of Reuven and the children of Gad had a very great multitude of cattle: and when they saw the land of Jazer, and the land of Gilad, that, behold, the place was a place for cattle;

Behold, thou art fair, my love; behold, thou art fair; thou hast doves' eyes within thy locks: thy hair is as a flock of goats, that appear from mount Gilad.

Your mother shall be sore confounded; she that bare you shall be ashamed: behold, the hindermost of the nations shall be a wilderness, a dry land, and a desert.

Open thy doors, O Lvanon, that the fire may devour thy cedars.

By thy servants hast thou reproached YY , and hast said, By the multitude of my chariots am I come up to the height of the mountains, to the sides of Lvanon; and I will cut down the tall cedars thereof, and the choice fir trees thereof: and I will enter into the height of his border, and the forest of his Carmel.

The lion is come up from his thicket, and the destroyer of the Gentiles is on his way; he is gone forth from his place to make thy land desolate; and thy cities shall be laid waste, without an inhabitant.

Is there no balm in Gilad; is there no physician there? why then is not the health of the daughter of my people recovered?
