Withhold thy foot from being unshod, and thy throat from thirst: but thou saidst, There is no hope: no; for I have loved strangers, and after them will I go.

They provoked him to jealousy with strange elohim, with abominations provoked they him to anger.

And they said, There is no hope: but we will walk after our own devices, and we will every one do the imagination of his evil heart.

Only acknowledge thine iniquity, that thou hast transgressed against YY thy Elohim, and hast scattered thy ways to the strangers under every green tree, and ye have not obeyed my voice, saith YY .

For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?

The tongue of the sucking child cleaveth to the roof of his mouth for thirst: the young children ask bread, and no man breaketh it unto them.

Thus saith YY unto this people, Thus have they loved to wander, they have not refrained their feet, therefore YY doth not accept them; he will now remember their iniquity, and visit their sins.

And if thou say in thine heart, Wherefore come these things upon me? For the greatness of thine iniquity are thy skirts discovered, and thy heels made bare.

Thou art wearied in the greatness of thy way; yet saidst thou not, There is no hope: thou hast found the life of thine hand; therefore thou wast not grieved.

Therefore thou hast forsaken thy people the house of Yaakov, because they be replenished from the east, and are soothsayers like the Plishtim, and they please themselves in the children of strangers.

And in the time of his distress did he trespass yet more against YY : this is that king Ahaz.

Therefore shalt thou serve thine enemies which YY shall send against thee, in hunger, and in thirst, and in nakedness, and in want of all things: and he shall put a yoke of iron upon thy neck, until he have destroyed thee.

And he cried and said, Father Avraham, have mercy on me, and send Elazar, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.

But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:

Lest I strip her naked, and set her as in the day that she was born, and make her as a wilderness, and set her like a dry land, and slay her with thirst.

But we will certainly do whatsoever thing goeth forth out of our own mouth, to burn incense unto the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, as we have done, we, and our fathers, our kings, and our princes, in the cities of Yhudah, and in the streets of Yerushalayim: for then had we plenty of victuals, and were well, and saw no evil.

O generation, see ye the word of YY . Have I been a wilderness unto Yisrael? a land of darkness? wherefore say my people, We are YY s; we will come no more unto thee?

What wilt thou say when he shall punish thee? for thou hast taught them to be captains, and as chief over thee: shall not sorrows take thee, as a woman in travail?

Go up to Lvanon, and cry; and lift up thy voice in Bashan, and cry from the passages: for all thy lovers are destroyed.

She weepeth sore in the night, and her tears are on her cheeks: among all her lovers she hath none to comfort her: all her friends have dealt treacherously with her, they are become her enemies.

And that which cometh into your mind shall not be at all, that ye say, We will be as the heathen, as the families of the countries, to serve wood and stone.

For their mother hath played the harlot: she that conceived them hath done shamefully: for she said, I will go after my lovers, that give me my bread and my water, my wool and my flax, mine oil and my drink.

Ye have said, It is vain to serve Elohim: and what profit is it that we have kept his ordinance, and that we have walked mournfully before YY -TZvaot?

For he sacrificed unto the elohim of Dammesek, which smote him: and he said, Because the elohim of the kings of Syria help them, therefore will I sacrifice to them, that they may help me. But they were the ruin of him, and of all Yisrael.

I spake unto thee in thy prosperity; but thou saidst, I will not hear. This hath been thy manner from thy youth, that thou obeyedst not my voice.
