Your country is desolate, your cities are burned with fire: your land, strangers devour it in your presence, and it is desolate, as overthrown by strangers.

Our inheritance is turned to strangers, our houses to aliens.

The stranger that is within thee shall get up above thee very high; and thou shalt come down very low.

The fruit of thy land, and all thy labours, shall a nation which thou knowest not eat up; and thou shalt be only oppressed and crushed alway:

Strangers have devoured his strength, and he knoweth it not: yea, gray hairs are here and there upon him, yet he knoweth not.

And I will make the rivers dry, and sell the land into the hand of the wicked: and I will make the land waste, and all that is therein, by the hand of strangers: I YY have spoken it.

Wherefore YY his Elohim delivered him into the hand of the king of Syria; and they smote him, and carried away a great multitude of them captives, and brought them to Dammesek. And he was also delivered into the hand of the king of Yisrael, who smote him with a great slaughter.

For they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind: it hath no stalk; the bud shall yield no meal: if so be it yield, the strangers shall swallow it up.

Be thou instructed, O Yerushalayim, lest my soul depart from thee; lest I make thee desolate, a land not inhabited.

The young lions roared upon him, and yelled, and they made his land waste: his cities are burned without inhabitant.

And the streams thereof shall be turned into pitch, and the dust thereof into brimstone, and the land thereof shall become burning pitch.

For every battle of the warrior is with confused noise, and garments rolled in blood; but this shall be with burning and fuel of fire.

Then said I, YY , how long? And he answered, Until the cities be wasted without inhabitant, and the houses without man, and the land be utterly desolate,

Then shall the lambs feed after their manner, and the waste places of the fat ones shall strangers eat.

In mine ears said YY -TZvaot, Of a truth many houses shall be desolate, even great and fair, without inhabitant.

Again, they are minished and brought low through oppression, affliction, and sorrow.

A fruitful land into barrenness, for the wickedness of them that dwell therein.

Then shall the land enjoy her Sabbaths, as long as it lieth desolate, and ye be in your enemies' land; even then shall the land rest, and enjoy her Sabbaths.

And I will scatter you among the heathen, and will draw out a sword after you: and your land shall be desolate, and your cities waste.

And that the whole land thereof is brimstone, and salt, and burning, that it is not sown, nor beareth, nor any grass groweth therein, like the overthrow of Sodom, and Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboim, which YY overthrew in his anger, and in his wrath:

Let the extortioner catch all that he hath; and let the strangers spoil his labour.

And the daughter of TZiyon is left as a cottage in a vineyard, as a lodge in a garden of cucumbers, as a besieged city.

For Yerushalayim is ruined, and Yhudah is fallen: because their tongue and their doings are against YY , to provoke the eyes of his glory.

For wickedness burneth as the fire: it shall devour the briers and tshofars, and shall kindle in the thickets of the forest, and they shall mount up like the lifting up of smoke.

For thy waste and thy desolate places, and the land of thy destruction, shall even now be too narrow by reason of the inhabitants, and they that swallowed thee up shall be far away.

Whereas thou has been forsaken and hated, so that no man went through thee, I will make thee an eternal excellency, a joy of many generations.

YY hath sworn by his right hand, and by the arm of his strength, Surely I will no more give thy corn to be meat for thine enemies; and the sons of the stranger shall not drink thy wine, for the which thou hast laboured:

Thy holy cities are a wilderness, TZiyon is a wilderness, Yerushalayim a desolation.

The lion is come up from his thicket, and the destroyer of the Gentiles is on his way; he is gone forth from his place to make thy land desolate; and thy cities shall be laid waste, without an inhabitant.

Then will I cause to cease from the cities of Yhudah, and from the streets of Yerushalayim, the voice of mirth, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride: for the land shall be desolate.

Wherefore my fury and mine anger was poured forth, and was kindled in the cities of Yhudah and in the streets of Yerushalayim; and they are wasted and desolate, as at this day.

Behold, therefore I will deliver thee to the men of the east for a possession, and they shall set their palaces in thee, and make their dwellings in thee: they shall eat thy fruit, and they shall drink thy milk.

And I will cut off the cities of thy land, and throw down all thy strong holds:

Therefore also will I make thee sick in smiting thee, in making thee desolate because of thy sins.
