These are the generations of Yaakov. Yosef, being seventeen years old, was feeding the flock with his brethren; and the lad was with the sons of Bilhah, and with the sons of Zilpah, his father's wives: and Yosef brought unto his father their evil report.

And Yosef was thirty years old when he stood before Pharaoh king of Egypt. And Yosef went out from the presence of Pharaoh, and went throughout all the land of Egypt.

And Yosef knew his brethren, but they knew not him.

For these two years hath the famine been in the land: and yet there are five years, in the which there shall neither be earing nor harvest.

That ye shall say, Thy servants' trade hath been about cattle from our youth even until now, both we, and also our fathers: that ye may dwell in the land of Goshen; for every shepherd is an abomination unto the Egyptians.
