Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Thou art permitted to speak for thyself. Then Paul stretched forth the hand, and answered for himself:

I think myself happy, king Agrippa, because I shall answer for myself this day before thee touching all the things whereof I am accused of the Jews:

Doth our Torah judge any man, before it hear him, and know what he doeth?

Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;

But to Yisrael he saith, All day long I have stretched forth my hands unto a disobedient and gainsaying people.

To whom I answered, It is not the manner of the Romans to deliver any man to die, before that he which is accused have the accusers face to face, and have licence to answer for himself concerning the crime laid against him.

Men, brethren, and fathers, hear ye my defence which I make now unto you.

He that is first in his own cause seemeth just; but his neighbour cometh and searcheth him.

He that answereth a matter before he heareth it, it is folly and shame unto him.

Behold, therefore I have stretched out my hand over thee, and have diminished thine ordinary food, and delivered thee unto the will of them that hate thee, the daughters of the Plishtim, which are ashamed of thy lewd way.

I will speak of thy testimonies also before kings, and will not be ashamed.

For it seemeth to me unreasonable to send a prisoner, and not withal to signify the crimes laid against him.
