So Saul took the kingdom over Yisrael, and fought against all his enemies on every side, against Moab, and against the children of Ammon, and against Edom, and against the kings of Zobah, and against the Plishtim: and whithersoever he turned himself, he vexed them.
And when all the kings that were servants to Hadarezer saw that they were smitten before Yisrael, they made peace with Yisrael, and served them. So the Syrians feared to help the children of Ammon any more.
And Hadarezer sent, and brought out the Syrians that were beyond the river: and they came to Helam; and Shobach the captain of the host of Hadarezer went before them.
And when the children of Ammon saw that they stank before David, the children of Ammon sent and hired the Syrians of Bethrehob and the Syrians of Zoba, twenty thousand footmen, and of king Maacah a thousand men, and of Ishtob twelve thousand men.
And Shlomo reigned over all kingdoms from the river unto the land of the Plishtim, and unto the border of Egypt: they brought presents, and served Shlomo all the days of his life.
Every place whereon the soles of your feet shall tread shall be yours: from the wilderness and Lvanon, from the river, the river Euphrates, even unto the uttermost sea shall your coast be.
And I will set thy bounds from the Red sea even unto the sea of the Plishtim, and from the desert unto the river: for I will deliver the inhabitants of the land into your hand; and thou shalt drive them out before thee.
