He arose, and smote the Plishtim until his hand was weary, and his hand clave unto the sword: and YY wrought a great victory that day; and the people returned after him only to spoil.
For he did put his life in his hand, and slew the Plishti, and YY wrought a great salvation for all Yisrael: thou sawest it, and didst rejoice: wherefore then wilt thou sin against innocent blood, to slay David without a cause?
Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.
Now Naaman, captain of the host of the king of Syria, was a great man with his master, and honourable, because by him YY had given deliverance unto Syria: he was also a mighty man in valour, but he was a leper.
And Yhonatan said to the young man that bare his armour, Come, and let us go over unto the garrison of these uncircumcised: it may be that YY will work for us: for there is no restraint to YY to save by many or by few.
And he was sore athirst, and called on YY , and said, Thou hast given this great deliverance into the hand of thy servant: and now shall I die for thirst, and fall into the hand of the uncircumcised?
And when he came unto Lehi, the Plishtim shouted against him: and the Spirit of YY came mightily upon him, and the cords that were upon his arms became as flax that was burnt with fire, and his bands loosed from off his hands.
And YY delivered them into the hand of Yisrael, who smote them, and chased them unto great Zidon, and unto Misrephothmaim, and unto the valley of Mizpeh eastward; and they smote them, until they left them none remaining.
And YY discomfited them before Yisrael, and slew them with a great slaughter at Givon, and chased them along the way that goeth up to Bethhoron, and smote them to Azekah, and unto Makkedah.
He was with David at Pasdammim, and there the Plishtim were gathered together to battle, where was a parcel of ground full of barley; and the people fled from before the Plishtim.
