And David sent messengers unto the men of JabeshGilad, and said unto them, Blessed be ye of YY , that ye have shewed this kindness unto your YY , even unto Saul, and have buried him.
And Naomi said unto her daughter in law, Blessed be he of YY , who hath not left off his kindness to the living and to the dead. And Naomi said unto her, The man is near of kin unto us, one of our next kinsmen.
And he said, Blessed be thou of YY , my daughter: for thou hast shewed more kindness in the latter end than at the beginning, inasmuch as thou followedst not young men, whether poor or rich.
And Naomi said unto her two daughters in law, Go, return each to her mother's house: YY deal kindly with you, as ye have dealt with the dead, and with me.
And they said, What one is there of the tribes of Yisrael that came not up to Mizpeh to YY ? And, behold, there came none to the camp from JabeshGilad to the assembly.
And the men answered her, Our life for yours, if ye utter not this our business. And it shall be, when YY hath given us the land, that we will deal kindly and truly with thee.
Then Nahash the Ammonite came up, and encamped against JabeshGilad: and all the men of Jabesh said unto Nahash, Make a covenant with us, and we will serve thee.
And they said unto the messengers that came, Thus shall ye say unto the men of JabeshGilad, To morrow, by that time the sun be hot, ye shall have help. And the messengers came and shewed it to the men of Jabesh; and they were glad.
Whereas thou camest but yesterday, should I this day make thee go up and down with us? seeing I go whither I may, return thou, and take back thy brethren: mercy and truth be with thee.
And David went and took the bones of Saul and the bones of Yhonatan his son from the men of JabeshGilad, which had stolen them from the street of Bethshan, where the Plishtim had hanged them, when the Plishtim had slain Saul in Gilboa:
