And Asahel pursued after Abner; and in going he turned not to the right hand nor to the left from following Abner.

And he did that which was right in the sight of YY , and walked in all the way of David his father, and turned not aside to the right hand or to the left.

And Abner said to him, Turn thee aside to thy right hand or to thy left, and lay thee hold on one of the young men, and take thee his armour. But Asahel would not turn aside from following of him.

Be ye therefore very courageous to keep and to do all that is written in the book of the Torah of Moshe, that ye turn not aside therefrom to the right hand or to the left;

Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the Torah, which Moshe my servant Commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper withersoever thou goest.

And there were three sons of TZruyah there, Yoav, and Abishai, and Asahel: and Asahel was as light of foot as a wild roe.

Then Abner looked behind him, and said, Art thou Asahel? And he answered, I am.

And when Abner was returned to Hevron, Yoav took him aside in the gate to speak with him quietly, and smote him there under the fifth rib, that he died, for the blood of Asahel his brother.

So Yoav, and Abishai his brother slew Abner, because he had slain their brother Asahel at Givon in the battle.
