And all the people were at strife throughout all the tribes of Yisrael, saying, The king saved us out of the hand of our enemies, and he delivered us out of the hand of the Plishtim; and now he is fled out of the land for Avshalom.

And David said unto all his servants that were with him at Yerushalayim, Arise, and let us flee; for we shall not else escape from Avshalom: make speed to depart, lest he overtake us suddenly, and bring evil upon us, and smite the city with the edge of the sword.

And David came to Baalperazim, and David smote them there, and said, YY hath broken forth upon mine enemies before me, as the breach of waters. Therefore he called the name of that place Baalperazim.

For he did put his life in his hand, and slew the Plishti, and YY wrought a great salvation for all Yisrael: thou sawest it, and didst rejoice: wherefore then wilt thou sin against innocent blood, to slay David without a cause?

And Saul said, Thus shall ye say to David, The king desireth not any dowry, but an hundred foreskins of the Plishtim, to be avenged of the king's enemies. But Saul thought to make David fall by the hand of the Plishtim.

So David prevailed over the Plishti with a sling and with a stone, and smote the Plishti, and slew him; but there was no sword in the hand of David.

And I said unto them, Whosoever hath any gold, let them break it off. So they gave it me: then I cast it into the fire, and there came out this calf.

And Avshalom, whom we anointed over us, is dead in battle. Now therefore why speak ye not a word of bringing the king back?

Then the king went on to Gilgal, and Chimham went on with him: and all the people of Yhudah conducted the king, and also half the people of Yisrael.

Thou also hast delivered me from the strivings of my people, thou hast kept me to be head of the heathen: a people which I knew not shall serve me.

Thou hast delivered me from the strivings of the people; and thou hast made me the head of the heathen: a people whom I have not known shall serve me.

And they took Avshalom, and cast him into a great pit in the wood, and laid a very great heap of stones upon him: and all Yisrael fled every one to his tent.
